Essay on The Machine Stops (Forester, 1909) and The Decalogue I (Kieslowski, 1989)
Both The Machine Stops and Dekalog I deal with technology as a kind of
false religion. But they
do so in radically different ways, having very different things to say about the idea.
Write an essay of about two pages (say 400-600 words) in which you compare and contrast
Forester’s and Kieslowski’s treatment of this theme.
Make specific and insightful references to the short story and the film.
