First video, showing basic sand interaction and water flow.
Second video, showing a virtual dam failure, a virtual levee breach, and more interaction with flowing water.
Live interview from the 2013 Augmented World Expo, the first time we showed our protoype outside UC Davis.
Video illustrating sandbox installation step 4, base plane extraction, as explained in the packaged README file.
Video illustrating sandbox installation step 5, bounding area measurement, as explained in the packaged README file.
Tutorial video on how to calibrate the Kinect camera and projector of an Augmented Reality Sandbox with respect to each other by collecting a set of tie points using a simple calibration object.
One of the three "official" AR Sandboxes, this one at The Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, California.
Detailed tutorial video showing the steps needed to download and install the AR Sandbox software for Mac OS X, created by Rhys George.
Full AR Sandbox calibration video, combining three steps:
  1. Measure base plane equation, from 0:00 - 4:10.
  2. Measure sandbox extents, from 4:10 - 10:10.
  3. Align Kinect camera and projector, from 10:10 - 20:43.
AR Sandbox update latency explained. The AR Sandbox uses a 1-second (30 tap) low-pass filter and noise rejector to ignore the users' hands and other moving objects above the sand surface, and stabilize the displayed topographic color map and contour lines. This filter causes a delay of exactly 1 second between any changes to the sand surface, and updates of the dynamic topographic map.
AR/VR Sandbox. A mixed-mode sandbox showing the usual AR display overlaid onto the real sand surface, and a navigable 3D view of the sand topography on a secondary display.
