Setareh Rafatirad is an Associate Professor at University of California, Davis in the Department of Computer Science. Prior to that, she was an Associate Term Professor in Department of Information Sciences and Technology at George Mason University. She obtained her M.Sc. and PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine in 2009 and 2012. She received the 2023 Chancellor's Fellowship Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at University of California Davis for her dedicated service to URM student mentorship in STEM research activities and serving to foster DEI initiatives, and ASSIP 2020 Recognition Award from the College of Science at George Mason University for her service as an Aspiring Scientist's Summer Internship Program Mentor and for guiding undergraduate and high school students in high quality original STEM research. She also received ICDM 2019 Best Paper Award (9% acceptance rate) and was nominated for ICCAD 2019 Best Paper Award. She received research funding from government agencies including NSF, DARPA, and AFRL for major projects. Her research interest covers several areas including Applied Machine Learning, IoT Security, and Natural Language Processing. Currently, she is actively supervising multiple research projects focused on AI Agents, Applied Machine Learning, Foundational Models, Personalization, Reasoning, Low-Resource NLP, and AI in Healthcare.
