Introduction to Computers: Fall 2013

The term paper

One of the main assignments in this course is writing a Term Paper. This paper will be a research paper on the use of computers in some field of interest to you. It has to be at least 2500 words in length, with references, describing some sort of computer application or use that relates to your major or a field which interests you. 2500-word is approximately 10 pages of laser printed output when double-spaced using a proportional 11-point font.

This is an opportunity for you to learn some detailed information about computers and how they are used in some area of interest to you. We cannot do that during the lectures! You will also become proficient using a computer-based word processor to produce a pleasing-looking paper.

In order to get the maximum benefit from this assignment, we are going to divide the task into separate elements. All term paper related hand-ins are due on Friday, approximately every two weeks. Specifically, you will turn in four items: a 1-2 page Prospectus, a 2 page Progress Report, a Rough Draft, and the complete 10 page Term Paper.
